Okaloosa County Infrastructure Rehabilitation
The Okaloosa County Sanitary Sewer Manhole located on Okaloosa Island, Florida, required extensive rehabilitation to extend the lifespan of the county’s infrastructure. As a coastal region, the area faces persistent inflow and infiltration (I&I) issues. Completed in February 2025, the project focused on sealing groundwater intrusion through corroded mortar joints and resurfacing brick walls and cone sections.
To address these issues, the Okaloosa County Water & Sewer Department partnered with Gulf Coast Underground, a certified Epoxytec applicator, to implement a composite system solution. The project utilized Hydrxx-3, Mortartec Silicate, and CPP Sprayliner MH. Hydrxx-3 sealed leaks, Mortartec Silicate restored and smoothed surfaces, and CPP Sprayliner MH added a protective barrier while ensuring a quick return to service while achieving a long lasting solution.
Despite challenges like deteriorating mortar joints and precision application requirements, the use of advanced materials provided a durable solution. The project successfully reduced infiltration, minimized disruptions, and extended the infrastructure’s service life, improving wastewater system reliability for the community.
